About Salt & Light Speech-Language Resources
Salt & Light Speech-Language Resources is a private speech-language pathology practice in Vestavia Hills, Alabama providing evidence-based speech therapy and orofacial myofunctional therapy for children, teens, and adults. Our mission is to support communication, oral function, airway health, and overall well-being through compassionate, individualized care.
We take a whole-person approach to therapy, recognizing the deep connection between speech, swallowing, breathing, posture, and oral-facial function. Every client’s plan is thoughtfully designed to address root causes—not just surface-level symptoms—so progress is meaningful, functional, and lasting.
Our Approach: Rooted in Function, Guided by Compassion
At Salt & Light, therapy goes beyond drills and exercises. We believe education, collaboration, and consistency are essential for real change. Our approach blends clinical expertise with practical strategies that fit into everyday life, empowering families and individuals to confidently support progress outside the therapy room.
We work closely with families and collaborate with other professionals—including dentists, orthodontists, pediatricians, ENTs, and physical therapists—when appropriate, to ensure comprehensive, coordinated care.

About the Clinician
Salt & Light Speech-Language Resources is led by Amanda Mavrakos, MS, CCC-SLP, a licensed speech-language pathologist with specialized training in orofacial myofunctional therapy, tethered oral tissues (TOT's), speech sound disorders, and swallowing across the lifespan.
Amanda’s clinical approach is shaped by a strong foundation in anatomy, movement, and function, as well as her background as a physical therapy assistant. She is passionate about education, collaboration, and empowering clients and families to understand the why behind therapy recommendations.
