How do I help my child correctly produce speech sounds?

Updated: Feb 23, 2021

When it comes to articulation, parents often have questions about the best way to facilitate correct speech sound production at home. I have created a great resource to help you do just that...cue "Speech Sound Placement Cards":)

My speech sound placement cards were created with parents and clinicians in mind to provide a description of the articulators for the target speech sound, a visual for articulator placement (to the best of my ability), and also includes a fun kid-friendly sound.

When you click on the image it will link you to my free resources area where you can sign up & download the images for free!

Terminology and Addressing articulation at home

Just as a quick review, the articulators include our lips, tongue, teeth, jaw, alveolar ridge, the velum (soft palate), and the hard palate. For additional information on assisting your child with speech sounds at home, please see my related blog post with specific information on the hierarchy and additional supportive instructions specifically related to interventions.

Why do I need the placement cards?

I feel as if the speech sound placement cards were needed to assist in providing additional visual support as you help your little one at home. The placement cards also correlate well with other activities and resources that are already on my website and in my shop. This is a free digital download that includes 23 consonant speech sounds and can be used as you work with your child on placement and production in isolation.

Within the "Free Resources" section, there is also a free digital download activity for speech sounds in isolation & includes 10 consonant sounds.

As I am creating resources and educational materials, my desire is for all of the information to support each other and integrate well into your daily routines. Free resources, shop products, blog posts, and social media posts are created to hopefully build upon each other in providing comprehensive support/resources for each area that I address.

The speech sound placement cards are just another piece of the pie to support you as parents as you assist your child in facilitating improvements in the areas of speech and language.

I hope you enjoy the free resources and please feel free to reach out

via the “Get in Touch” tab on my website. Blessings!
